ABOUT ME
Hello everyone, nice to meet you! I am Torian Went, owner of Trident Recruiting & Business Development. I was born and raised on the majestic island of Barbados. The name 'Trident' is important to me because in the National Flag of Barbados the broken trident represents our independence. I started this company to create opportunities for others to create and live their own independent lives.
At age 18 I received a soccer scholarship to play at the University of North Florida, where I competed in NCAA Division 1. After enjoying four full seasons, I was honored with ONE player of the week, TWO All- Academic Conference awards, ONE CoSIDA All- District Team award and the National Arthur Ashe Jr Sports Scholar award. In my studies, I double majored in International Relations and Spanish with a major concentration in peoples, cultures and ways of life and also graduated Summa Cum Laude. Before moving to Jacksonville, Florida , however, I was honored to be named the Captain of the Barbados U17 National Team for two years. In addition, I had previous soccer travels and experiences where I played and lived briefly in England, Italy, Colombia, Venezuela, French Guiana, Hispaniola, Grenada, Martinique and more than 10 other Caribbean and Central American countries.
These travels and experiences naturally led to a curiosity of studying and understanding other cultures, their people and their ways of life, as a result, I am fluent in 4 languages.Additionally, from a young age I have always been an entrepreneur, solely running businesses where I baked and sold cheesecakes, owned and operated a car wash and even landscaping work. Throughout my years of entrepreneurship the biggest lesson I have learnt is that people do not care how much you know until they know how much you care, this is why at TRBD we emphasize and magnify the importance of a personalized 1-on-1 experience with each client/partner. Our ultimate goal is to help businesses acquire the best talent fit for their company culture and to help ambitious individuals connect with more prestigious opportunities! ​
